How Long Does Polyaspartic Floor Coating Actually Last?
April 2, 2026
When a manufacturer says polyaspartic 'lasts 20 years,' they're talking about the chemistry of the coating itself. When we say a floor lasts 20 years, we're talking about the entire system — coating plus prep plus install plus maintenance — performing in a real Lafayette garage. Those two numbers aren't always the same.
What we see in the field
A properly installed polyaspartic floor coating with full diamond grinding prep and a base/flake/topcoat system holds up extremely well across 10-15 years of normal residential use. The floors we installed in 2014 are still performing in 2026. Some have light wear in high-traffic zones. None have failed structurally.
What kills a polyaspartic floor early
- Skipping or shortcutting surface prep (the #1 failure cause)
- Applying over a slab that wasn't moisture-tested
- Single-coat installs without a full topcoat
- Using cheap aggregate or low-quality flake
- Aggressive cleaners with harsh solvents
What extends the life of the floor
- Sweep weekly, mop monthly with a pH-neutral cleaner
- Wipe up oil and chemical spills within a few hours
- Use furniture pads under heavy stationary equipment
- Keep the garage door seal in good shape so debris doesn't grind under tires
Our limited lifetime warranty
We back every install with a Limited Lifetime Warranty that covers delamination, peeling, and major adhesion failures for as long as you own the home — fully transferable if you sell. That coverage exists because we know what proper prep, premium materials, and professional install actually deliver.
